PSL 2024: Islamabad United's Naseem Shah fined after Code of Conduct violation
Shah was handed a 10 percent match fee fine.
In a major development for star Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah, the youngster was handed a huge fine by the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board). Representing Islamabad United in the PSL (Pakistan Super League), Shah was fined 10 per cent of the match fee on Monday, March 11.
The fine was handed out for a level 1 breach of the PSL code of conduct for players and player support personnel when Multan Sultans took on Islamabad United in game 27 of the ongoing PSL.
Naseem Shah was handed the fine after he kicked the stumps after Multan Sultans’ innings. This meant that the playing conditions and the rules around it indicated the abuse of the cricket equipment. Hence, this amounts to tarnishing the dignity of the sport with such actions.
"Naseem was charged for violating Article 2.2 which deals with abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings. Naseem had kicked the stumps after the final ball of Multan Sultans’ innings," the PCB released a statement," the board said in their statement.
“Since Naseem pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Roshan Mahanama, there was no need of a formal hearing. The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif,” the PCB statement added.
