The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) set a total of 191 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 7 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Courtesy of a splendid 116-run stand by Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh, LSG crossed the lines in 16.1 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on March 27, winning the game by five wickets.

In the first innings of the match, Lucknow's bowlers took wickets at regular intervals, where Shardul Thakur stood out with his spell 4/34 in his four overs, restricting the opposition below 200 runs. The Caribbean batter, in the chase scoring 70 off 26 balls comprising 12 boundaries, gave LSG their first win in this season.

After the LSG victory, former India batter Robin Uthappa shared his thoughts on the convincing run chase against SRH. He thought that LSG stuck to their plan and praised the bowling of Shardul and Prince Yadav on restricting them, while also passing on encouraging words for Pooran.

“I thought it was a very convincing and clinical win. The way they approached the chase was phenomenal. They stuck to their game plan, and of course, the presence of dew made the outfield even quicker as the game progressed. Full credit to them. The bowlers - Shardul Thakur, Prince Yadav - all bowled exceptionally well. And then, the batters came in and did their job brilliantly,” Uthappa said via JioStar.

The wicketkeeper-batter praised the batting performance of left-handed batter Pooran for his approach on picking the balls without second-guessing it. He explained that the West Indian batter was positioned to pick on loose deliveries and hit Adam Zampa for 19 runs off the leg-spinner's first over, showing complete dominance over the bowling attack Hyderabad possesses.

“He was simply playing the merit of the ball. His approach is such that if the delivery is in his preferred regions, he backs himself to go for it-no second-guessing. That’s exactly what he did today. Against spinners, especially left-arm and leg spinners, he positions himself to capitalize on any loose deliveries. When you take on someone like Adam Zampa in his first over and smash him for 19 runs, you’re sending a clear message: ‘I’m unstoppable.’ And that's exactly what Pooran demonstrated today - pure dominance. Scoring 17 boundaries off his 26 deliveries is power-hitting of the highest order,” the cricketer-turned-commentator added.
