The New Zealand Cricket Awards were recently held in Christchurch, and many stars from the country received many accolades in the award ceremony. One of the biggest players to receive awards in the ceremony were youngster Rachin Ravindra and the White Ferns’ Amelia Kerr.

Ravindra was awarded the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal as he became the youngest player ever to receive the honour. Furthermore, star women’s cricketer Amelia Kerr took home the Debbie Hockley Medal for the second consecutive year.

Kerr also won the ODI and T20I Player of the Year awards. Veteran batter Kane Williamson received the Test Player of the Year award, whereas all-rounder Daryl Mitchell won the  ODI Player of the Year award, with Mitchell Santner receiving the T20I Player of the Year award.

It was quite a successful evening for the Kiwi cricketers. Ravindra was exceptional for the national team in the ODI World Cup 2023, finishing the marquee tournament with 578 runs to his name; he levelled Williamson’s tally from the 2019 edition.

It is also worth noting that the season was quite a spectacular one for Kerr, as he finished it as the leading run scorer for her side in ODIs, the leading wicket-taker in T20Is, and the second-highest run-getter in the shortest format.
