India's strength in skills, not conditions: Shukla

Shukla, who was in attendance at Lahore for the game between South Africa and New Zealand, was asked about the unfair advantage to India over other teams participating in the ongoing Champions Trophy. The BCCI vice-president bashed the claims, saying that all the matches in Dubai have been played on different pitches. He further said that the strength of the Indian team lies in its skills, and not the conditions they play in.

“When this decision was made during the ICC meeting, it was agreed that India-centric matches would be played in Dubai, while the remaining games would also take place in Dubai. So, it’s not about fair or unfair. The Indian cricket team does not depend on pitches to win matches. There are different types of pitches even within Dubai. India plays on performance—our players rely on their skills, not the conditions." Shukla said in a media interaction during the second semi-final of the ongoing Champions Trophy.
