Middle-order sensation Suryakumar Yadav has asked for a break from the ongoing Bangladesh series after being on the road for 75 days that also saw him participate in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 down under where India made the semis.

Even though Yadav has earned a well-deserved break, he has decided to boost his cricketing skills by making himself available for selection in Mumbai’s second Ranji Trophy game against Hyderabad in Mumbai on December 20. The Mumbai cricketer has made this decision with no competitive games around for the time-being.

Suryakumar Yadav plans to keep himself engaged by playing Ranji Trophy

“Surya has informed us that he will be available for the second Ranji Trophy game. The selection committee today picked the squad for the first Ranji Trophy game (Vs Andhra) which will be led by Ajinkya Rahane,” MCA honorary secretary Ajinkya Naik told The Indian Express.

With Suryakumar Yadav having proved his mettle in white-ball cricket for India this year, he is now eyeing on showcasing consistent performances in the red-ball format going forward and keeping that long-term vision in mind, he has decided to participate in the ongoing Ranji season.

Meanwhile, Yadav was reportedly set to be a part of the Indian Test squad for the Bangladesh series before asking for a break. He was in contention to replace star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja who is still recovering from a knee injury that he had sustained during the Asia Cup.

Now, when the 32-year-old gets a next Test call-up, he wants to ensure that he is well prepared for accepting the challenge. India will be hosting Australia for a four-match Test series in February-March 2023.
