Day 2 of the first round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 continued the brilliant games, and Kerala continued their clash with Punjab as well. The day proved to be an excellent one for Kerala. The game began with Kerala bowling first, and the side managed to put in an excellent showing on days 1 and 2.

The spell of Kerala’s Aditya Sarvate stood out for Kerala on both days; the star player managed to complete a fifer. On rain-hit day 1, Sarvate took three brilliant wickets in a day that he dominated.

Opting to bat first, Punjab slumped to 62 for five and then made a mini recovery to reach 95 for five at Lunch on the opening day of the tournament. However, during the afternoon session, Sarvate, playing his debut outing for Kerala, managed to put in an excellent performance with the ball.

Furthermore, he followed up his performances on Day 2 as well. Bowling 30 overs across the two days, Sarvate bowled 12 maiden overs and conceded 59 runs in the process, taking an impressive tally of five wickets as well.

Sarvate dismissed Abhay Choudhary to begin his spell, followed it up with dismissing Naman Dhir, skipper Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and Emanjot Singh Chahal. His spell was crucial for Kerala in limiting Punjab across the first two days. Veteran all-rounder Jalaj Saxena took the remaining four wickets so far, as Punjab are just a wicket away from being bundled out.

Kerala limit Punjab to subpar total
