Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Kuldeep Yadav added to Uttar Pradesh squad for game against Madhya Pradesh
Kuldeep sustained a groin injury after the New Zealand Test and missed ample time to recovery.
Star leg spinner, Kuldeep Yadav was last seen playing for India in October 2024. He was part of the team in the first Test against New Zealand and never returned to the setup. Kuldeep was itching to get back to the Indian team as at one point he was the preferred spinner across formats after Yuzvendra Chahal was dropped from prospects. For the unversed, he sustained a groin injury after the New Zealand Test and missed ample time to recover.
However, he was included in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad and in the Indian squad for the ODI series against England. The spinner recently provided an update on his recovery and he has been included in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) squad for the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game against Madhya Pradesh (MP) at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, starting on January 30.
"Recovery takes a team. Grateful to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and its team for all the work behind the scenes," Kuldeep wrote on X.
It is worth noting that, UP and MP are out of qualifications for the quarterfinals. This match will present a great opportunity for Kuldeep to test his bowling after the surgery and get match-ready ahead of the England series. He will be leading the spin attack against the touring England and was an integral part of India’s previous two ICC event appearances, World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024.
