Ramiz Raja lauded Ravichandran Ashwin for his all-round prowess after he orchestrated a 2-0 win for India versus Bangladesh in the recently-concluded two-match series.

The Tamil Nadu all-rounder scored 114 runs with the bat and picked up 11 wickets with the ball to win his 11th Player of the Series award. His match-winning century in the first innings of the first Test in Chennai drew him a lot of praise from fans as well as experts.

Former ODI World Cup winner Raja said that Ashwin's record shows that he is not less than anyone when it comes to his ability with both bat and ball. The cricketer-turned-expert hailed Ashwin as a no-nonsense cricketer and said that he doesn't throw tantrums when he is not a part of the playing XI.

"He (Ashwin) has not been celebrated as much as he should be as an all-rounder. If you look at his record, he is not less than anyone. He is a no-nonsense cricketer, takes everything in his stride. Even when he is the 12th man or is out of the team, there are no tantrums. He understands the team's situation and his responsibility," said Raja on his official YouTube channel.

He has an intelligent take on the game, which shows in his comments: Ramiz Raja

The former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman said that there is a lot to learn from Ashwin and praised his ability to do well whenever he gets a chance.

"Whenever he gets a chance, he plays brilliantly. There is a lot to learn from Ashwin. He is opinionated but not like he does a lot of critical analysis of anything off the field. He has an intelligent take on the game, which shows in his comments," Ramiz explained.

After giving the Bangladeshi batters sleepless nights, Ashwin will now turn his focus to New Zealand as they face India in a three-match Test series, starting on October 16. This will be India's last red-ball assignment before they travel to Australia to play the high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
