Team India is all set for a multi-format series against Bangladesh. The hosts have invited the Bangla Tigers for a two-game Test series, with the first Test scheduled to be held from September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ahead of the first encounter, Ashwin’s wife, Prithi, took to her Instagram handle and posted a story.

It is worth noting that India are set to play 10 Test matches in the next four months, and with such a gruelling calendar ahead of them, Ravichandran Ashwin will be playing for India for the first time since March 2024. In the five-game Test series against England earlier this year, Ashwin was the highest wicket taker for his side, picking 26 wickets across five Test matches.

“Chennai, Test matches feelings are coming. Right?” Prithi posted on her Instagram story. Ashwin’s last outing at his home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, came in 2021 when he put in an excellent performance against England.

Bangladesh hope to pull off another upset

Speaking of the upcoming Test matches against India and Bangladesh, the visitors currently sit in fourth place in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. The side recently defeated Pakistan in a two-game Test series in their own backyard, and the massive win would have surely boosted their confidence, and they will hope to put in another good showing against India as well.

On the other hand, team India is enjoying sitting atop the WTC standings. With nine Tests played, India have won six, lost two, and drawn one game. With 74 points to their name, the side is set to make it to their third straight WTC final next year, and they will hope to start off their Test season right with a win against Bangladesh.
