Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Nitish Rana showcased a batting masterclass against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023 Match 36 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 26. Virat Kohli, the stand-in skipper of RCB, won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. KKR got off to a flying start as they set a 201-run target against the hosts.

KKR openers Jason Roy and Narayan Jagadeesan made a solid start as the visiting side was 66/0 in the powerplay. The English batter scored a quick half-century from just 22 balls. He smashed 56 off 29 balls, including four fours and five sixes. Jagadeesan, on the other hand, could manage to score only 27 runs.

After Vyshak Vijay Kumar ended the KKR openers’ stay, Venkatesh Iyer (31 off 26) and Rana came in for batting. The KKR captain led his team from the front, scoring 48 runs in just 21 balls, including three boundaries and four maximums. Despite failing to score a half-century, Rana provided a much-needed contribution for his side. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh (18*) and David Wiese (12*) also played quickfire knocks for the visitors as the two-time IPL champions posted 200/5 runs in 20 overs.

Meanwhile, for RCB, apart from Vyshak, Wanindu Hasaranga also grabbed two wickets while Mohammed Siraj grabbed one.
