RCB vs MI: On-field collision between Dinesh Karthik and Mohammed Siraj gives reprieve to Rohit Sharma
Rohit went to execute a pull shot on the fifth delivery of the fifth over but ended up skying it inside the 30-yard circle.
The fever of the Indian Premier League has finally reached the M Chinnaswamy Stadium as the home side Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently taking on five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the venue on Sunday. April 2.
Royal Challengers are currently dictating terms to Mumbai Indians after winning the toss and electing to field first as they have reduced the visiting side to 20 for the loss of three wickets inside the powerplay. RCB managed to take a flurry of wickets up front and are on top at the moment. However, things weren't looking very rosy for them at one stage as they had given a life to the Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma when he was just batting on 1.
Rohit went to execute a pull shot on the fifth delivery of the fifth over but ended up skying it inside the 30-yard circle. The bowler Mohammed Siraj who induced the top edge went after the catch without realising that wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was also trying to settle underneath it.
A lack of coordination saw both players colliding with each other and ended up grassing the opportunity. Karthik went after the catch as he was closer to it and with his wicket-keeping gloves must have felt confident about pulling off the same but Siraj also fancied his chances and the collision between the two helped Rohit's cause as he survived the scare.
But RCB turned out to be fortuitous as the missed chance didn't hurt them much and Rohit perished in the very next over to Akash Deep. Rohit went to feel for a length ball outside off but ended up simply edging it behind and Karthik didn't make any error on this occasion and grabbed the opportunity easily.
