Reports: BCCI planning to fast track Rishabh Pant's rehab after rapid recovery
BCCI is reportedly planning to fast-track his rehab in an attempt to get him fit for the ODI World Cup later this year.
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who was involved in a horrific car crash at the fag end of 2022, delighted fans with his progress in his latest social media posts. Surprised by the star batter's rapid recovery, BCCI is reportedly planning to fast-track his rehab in an attempt to get him fit for the ODI World Cup later in 2023.
Rishabh Pant, who is currently continuing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) along with compatriots Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer and Prasidh Krishna, recently shared a video of his mobility exercises. While the young dasher is largely pain-free, he is still quite a fair distance away from making his full recovery, according to physio S Rajnikanth.
The young dasher sustained multiple injuries after his car accident and was expected to miss the entirety of cricket action in 2023. While the Delhi Capitals' skipper missed the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League and also sat out India's World Test Championship Final against Australia, his recovery rate has provided a glimmer of hope to the Indian fans for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are providing company to Pant at the NCA
While Delhi Capitals sorely missed their skipper in the abysmal IPL 2023 campaign, Rohit Sharma's India were also hurt by the absence of the influential wicketkeeper-batter in the recently concluded WTC Final. His progress is closely monitored by NCA chief VVS Laxman. Pant is also spending time with young cricketers who have been attending training camps at the NCA.
Meanwhile, star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who recently underwent back surgery, missing IPL 2023 and WTC Final, is also continuing his rehab at the NCA and is expected to be fit for this year's Asia Cup, scheduled for August-September. Apart from Bumrah, middle-order batting ace Shreyas Iyer, who was troubled by his recurring back injury during the Border-Gavaskar trophy, is also recuperating from his injury and is expected to complete his recovery ahead of the 16th edition of the continental tournament.
