Reports: BCCI unhappy with CAB's ticket price revealation for 2023 ODI World Cup

The excitement is palpable as the ODI World Cup is set to commence in less than three months' time. Teams have chalked out their methods of preparation ahead of the mega event that takes place in India in October-November.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has earned the right to host five matches during the showpiece event, including India versus South Africa, clash on November 5 and the second semifinal on November 16. Eden Gardens has witnessed some historic moments over the years. The 'City of Joy' is waiting with open arms to welcome the participating teams.

On July 10, CAB chief Snehasish Ganguly announced the ticket prices for World Cup matches that are going to be held at Eden Gardens. As per a report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is unhappy with CAB as they were not informed prior to the announcement of the ticket prices. However, the two bodies are expected to settle their differences soon.

Former BCCI and CAB president Sourav Ganguly visited the Eden Gardens on Monday and spent a couple of hours taking account of the renovations going on at the iconic stadium prior to the World Cup.

“This is totally the CAB’s jurisdiction. They’ll deal with it," Ganguly told Telegraph India.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his India debut in the Test match against the West Indies in Roseau, Dominica, last week. The Mumbai batter scored a brilliant 171 in 387 balls and was awarded Player of the Match. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly heaped praise on the youngster and said that he should be picked in India's squad for the impending ODI World Cup as a left-hander could come in handy.

“Scoring a hundred on debut is always massive. I too have done it, so I know how special it is. Even technique-wise, he seems really good. A left-handed batsman’s presence in the team always helps. So, having him in the World Cup squad is a must,” Ganguly said.
