Reports: Rishabh Pant's friend advised him not to drive alone but cricketer insisted
The cricketer is likely to be airlifted to Mumbai or Delhi for further treatment.
Indian cricket was shocked when the star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant met with a horrific car accident on Friday (December 30). The cricketer was driving alone on National Highway to meet his family but his car collided severely with the divider and caught fire. Rishabh sustained injuries to his head, arm, and legs but was quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The whole cricketing world is praying for the youngster's quick recovery as the player has been declared out of danger but will go through treatment for his injuries. The initial MRI scans of the brain and spinal cord have come normal but the player is likely to have more MRI scans of his right forearm and legs.
“Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe, and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh's condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment,” BCCI said in its official statement on Friday.
It has been reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the Max Hospital in Dehradun, where Rishabh is admitted, to not treat him for his ligament injuries for now. It is understood that the player is likely to be shifted to Mumbai or Delhi for further treatment.
A close aide of Rishabh Pant asked him to not drive alone
In another update on Rishabh, Cricbuzz has learned that a close aide of Rishabh Pant asked him to not drive alone but the cricketer insisted that he would be able to manage. This report came after an old video of Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh surfaced on the internet, where the senior cricketer advised Rishabh to drive carefully, to which both players burst into a laugh. But the video ended with Rishabh promising his teammate that he will drive carefully.
Rishabh endured a poor 2022 year in white-ball cricket and is not part of India's upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home. He was due to attend the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to regain his fitness and strength. However, as per recent happenings, Pant will reportedly be out of action till IPL 2023.
