Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Jason Roy lavished massive praise on young sensation Rinku Singh, citing his impressive knock against Gujarat Titans. For the uninitiated, Rinku scripted history when he hammered five sixes on the trot to single-handedly win the match for his side against Titans.

After relishing a magnificent outing against GT,  the Nitish Rana-led side, however, lost their subsequent fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kolkata would, therefore, be raring to get back to winning ways by getting the better of Mumbai.

Ahead of their match against Mumbai Indians at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Jason Roy heaped praise on teammate Rinku for his explosive batting exploits.

“He (Rinku Singh) is a pocket rocket; I didn't see that coming (knock against GT). He smacks it in the nets, and is a serious talent,” Jason Roy told in a pre-match interview.

Form is good, hopefully I get a game soon: Jason Roy

Speaking about the clash between MI and KKR, the visiting team decided to field opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz instead of Jason Roy. The move came despite the 32-year-old English batter smashing a record-breaking unbeaten knock of 145 runs (off 63 balls) in the recently concluded Pakistan Super league (PSL).

In March, he also clobbered 132 runs for England in the second ODI match against Bangladesh. With his current form, Roy hopes to ply his trade for KKR and hit the ground running for the franchise.

“We had a good game (against SRH) as we scored 200, so as a batting unit everyone is pumped up and confident. It's a big away game for us today. Just training and travelling, plenty of travel days. I am trying to get the most out of this trip,” said Jason Roy.

“This year has started well for me; I have enjoyed my cricket a lot. Really happy with where I am at, the hundreds have been great, form is good, hopefully I get a game soon. Got great memories at this ground, during the World Cup, and when Delhi (Capitals) came here, we beat Mumbai,” he added.

With Gurbaz registering underwhelming scores of 15, 0 and eight runs against Mumbai in his most recent outing, KKR could include Roy in the mix in the next game against Delhi Capitals.
