Indian skipper Rohit Sharma graced the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, March 12, to witness the climax of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 between Mumbai and Vidarbha. His appearance highlighted a broader effort by himself, the team management, and the BCCI to emphasise the significance of red-ball cricket. Recent endeavors, including the introduction of incentive schemes by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, aim to prioritise the longer format over T20 and white-ball cricket.
The India opener's involvement extended beyond mere attendance. Seated in Mumbai's dressing room alongside Dhawal Kulkarni, he immersed himself in the unfolding drama, keenly observing the proceedings. The Ranji Trophy final has unfurled with Mumbai seizing control from the onset. Despite a faltering start with the bat, posting a modest 224, Shardul Thakur's resilient 75 anchored Mumbai's innings.
