[WATCH] IPL 2025: Injured Ruturaj Gaikwad spotted playing football alongside CSK teammates
Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow fracture during the game against Punjab Kings which led to MS Dhoni being back as the CSK skipper for the rest of the season.
Social media went insane as they saw star cricketer Ruturaj Gaikwad doing the football drills alongside his Chennai Super Kings' teammates ahead of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. Notably, Gaikwad, the mainstay CSK skipper, has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament and MS Dhoni has acquired the captain's hat once again.
The reason for Gaikwad being ruled out due to an elbow injury he sustained during the initial stages of the tournament, which has now grown into a hairline fracture, enforcing him to be out of action from the rest of the season. Despite being injured, the Maharashtra-born engaging in warm-up drills has caused rage among the netizens on social media.
A recent clip of him doing warm-drills alongside the teammates has gone viral. What made the fans curious is that even though it was reported that the two-time IPL winner had a fracture, Gaikwad looked fully fit and enjoyed playing with his teammates. A set of fans also questioned the authenticity of the injury news, causing a speculation on the internet.

There is no doubt that Gaikwad is among the biggest young prodigies in Indian cricket, known for his elegant stroke play. However, his captaincy record has not really been the best so far. The Pune-born has led the team in 18 matches so far and has won eight, while losing 10 of them, with an underwhelming win rate of just 44.44 percentage.
CSK dream Dhoni-led turnaround
Speaking of the 2025 season, it has already been a disappointing season so far for the Yellow Brigade, who have so far won only one game out of the five games they have played. Their next game is against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and MS Dhoni will be returning with the captain's hat for the clash against the defending champions up until the end of the season. CSK, who have won five IPL titles under Dhoni's inspiring leadership, will hope for a turnaround story with his comeback now.
