'RR are showing that it becomes really hard to get out of that decline' - Brian Lara on Rajasthan Royals' recent poor form
Despite already securing a spot in the playoffs, RR's recent downturn in form has raised concerns about their championship aspirations.
Legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara shared his insights into Rajasthan Royals' recent struggles in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Despite already securing a spot in the playoffs, RR's recent downturn in form has raised concerns about their championship aspirations.
In a conversation, Lara emphasized the challenging situation facing RR, stressing the importance of bouncing back from their slump. He noted the lack of runs on the board and highlighted the difficulty of overcoming a decline. Despite entering playoffs, Lara expressed uncertainty about how RR would manage to lift themselves up.
“Ya not enough runs on the board and when you get onto that slump or that decline, its gets really hard RR are showing that it becomes really hard to get out of that decline. They have entered playoffs, don’t know how they are going to pick themselves up,” Lara said while speaking with Star Sports.

After an impressive start to the season, RR suffered their fourth consecutive defeat against Punjab Kings, further complicating their bid for a top-two finish. Lara stressed the importance of RR's upcoming fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), stating that a convincing win is crucial to secure a favorable playoff position.
“They have to win the next game convincingly and hope SRH don’t win their next two games to run one or two. You want to qualify on top of the table. It’s very hard to explain, they are a very good side. They need to introspect what happened in the first half and what is happening now,” Lara added.
Lara remained confident in RR's capacity to regain momentum despite the challenges. He asserted that they were still a formidable team when performing at their peak and expressed hope that they would indeed pick up their game.
“They have got to pick themselves up. They are still the force to be reckoned with when they are playing their best. RR just losing their momentum. Hopefully they will pick it up,” Lara said.
Rajasthan Royals will face Kolkata Knight Riders in a crucial encounter on Sunday, May 19, aiming to revive their form and solidify their position in the playoffs race. As the IPL 2024 approaches its decisive stages, RR's performance in the upcoming matches will determine their prospects for the championship title.
