Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put up a sensational batting display against Delhi Capitals (DC) during Match 16 of IPL 2024 on Wednesday, April 03 in Visakhapatnam as they posted the second-highest score in the history of the tournament. The two-time champions posted a mammoth score of 272/7 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of some breathtaking knocks from Sunil Narine (85 off 39), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54 off 27) and Andre Russell (41 off 19).

Amid the two KKR stars, Raghuvanshi also grabbed the limelight scoring a half century in his debut IPL innings. The 18-year-old smashed five fours and three sixes in his innings one of which left everyone awestruck as he guided a widish delivery over third man for a maximum through a switch-hit.

The incident took place on the fourth ball of the fifth over bowled by Rasikh Salam who bowled a good length delivery way outside the off stump. Raghuvanshi, who had already switched sides to smack it as a left-hander, helped it on its way to collect six runs over the third-man boundary.

The youngster got involved in a massive 104-run partnership for the second wicket with Sunil Narine off just 48 balls. The duo helped KKR surpass the 160-run mark in 12 overs and set them up for a huge score. Raghuvanshi was finally dismissed for 54 off 27 in the fourteenth over and got a rousing applause on his way back to the pavilion with even KKR owner Shahrukh Khan applauding the talented youngster.

Andre Russell and Rinku Singh gave the perfect finish to KKR's innings

Following his dismissal, Andre Russell walked in ahead of his captain Shreyas Iyer and raced to 41 off just 18 balls putting his brute muscle power on display by clobbering four fours and three sixes. It took a peach of a yorker by Ishant Sharma (2/43, 3 overs) to get rid of Russell in the last over which stopped KKR from surpassing IPL’s highest total of 277 by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
