South Africa and the Netherlands are locking horns in Match 15 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday, October 17 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. After being put in to bat first by the South African captain Temba Bavuma, the Dutch posted a good score of 245/8 in the rain-curtailed 43-over game.

However, they didn’t get off to the best of the starts as they were reeling at 82/5 after 20.2 overs. Captain Scott Edwards played a magnificent innings of 78* off 69 with the help of ten fours and a six in his innings to help his side bail out of trouble early on.

A brilliant cameo of 23* off 9 from Aryan Dutt also helped to propel the Netherlands’ total over 240. The 20-year-old smacked three sixes in his innings as he took on Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Coetzee. He first clobbered Ngidi for maximums in back-to-back overs and later smacked Coetzee for a gigantic six which went high into the night sky and landed way back into deep mid-wicket stands.

Earlier in the day, Netherlands didn’t get off to a great start as openers Vikramjit Singh (2 off 16) and Max ODowd (18 off 25) returned back to the pavilion with just 24 runs on the board after 7.1 overs. Bas de Leede (2 off 7), Colin Ackerman (13 off 25), Sybrand Engelbrecht (19 off 37) and Teja Nidamanuru (20 off 25) all departed cheaply to leave their side reeling at 112/6 after 27 overs. However, some late fireworks from captain Edwards, Roelof van der Merwe (29 off 19) and Aryan Dutt helped the Netherlands reach 245/8.
