Shot of the Day - Riyan Parag nonchalantly lofts Anrich Nortje over deep extra cover - RR vs DC IPL 2024
Riyan Parag registered his highest IPL score of 84* (45) against Delhi Capitals.
Riyan Parag was seen in imperious form during Rajasthan Royals’ second game of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against Delhi Capitals on Thursday, March 28 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The 22-year-old played a scintillating innings of 84* (45) with the help of seven fours and six gigantic sixes helping RR recover from a precarious situation of 36/3 after 7.2 overs.
During his innings, Parag put his wide array of strokes on display as he smacked DC bowlers to all corners of the ground. One of his shots left everyone gasping as he played a majestic lofted extra cover drive against the sheer pace of Anrich Nortje. The shot even got praise from commentator Sanjay Manjrekar who applauded him for his stupendous strokeplay.

Notably, Parag managed to score 25 runs off the last over against Nortje as he helped RR post a good total of 185/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The Assam batter came into the season on the back of a truckload of runs in domestic cricket.
Parag was the leading run-scorer of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 where he finished as the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 510 runs to his name from ten innings at an average of 85 and a strike rate of 182.79 with seven fifties.
Riyan Parag was the second highest run scorer for Assam in Ranji Trophy 2024
He further had a brilliant season in the Ranji Trophy 2024 finishing as the second-highest run-scorer for Assam with 378 runs to his name from six innings at an average of 75.6 and a strike rate of 113.82 with two hundreds and one fifty.

Earlier, Parag got his IPL season off to a great start with a brilliant knock of 43 (29) against Lucknow Super Giants in the opening fixture. The 22-year-old got even better in the second game as he scored his third half-century of his IPL career and registered his highest score of 84* (45). Parag will be eager to continue his form in the remaining games of the season to help RR qualify for the playoffs.
