Sikandar Raza is special player, any franchise would love to have him in squad: Habibul Bashar

Ever since Sikandar Raza returned back to cricket following his bone marrow infection, the all-rounder has been phenomenal, to say the least. In the year 2022, the 36-year-old has smashed 701 runs from 23 games and has been very effective with the bowl as he has picked up 24 wickets at an impressive economy of 6.14. With that kind of performance on a regular basis, he has lit up Zimbabwe’s campaign in the T20 World Cup and has bagged three Player of the Match awards so far.

Thus, former Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar has no doubt that he now will be in high demand among franchises all over the world. Calling him a special player, Bashar lauded him just before Zimbabwe’s clash against the Netherlands.

“Sikandar Raza is very familiar to Bangladesh (cricket). He even is a regular member of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and few months back, he was playing in division tournaments in Bangladesh. He actually came there and played. So, he is playing all around the world and I think in last one year, he is performing in every format - 50-over cricket, T20 cricket. He looks like a special player, he’s a match-winner. Definitely, any franchise would love to have him in the squad,”  Bashar said on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker.

Habibul Bashar believes Sikandar Raza brings everything to the table

In the T20 World Cup itself, the Sikandar Raza has created quite an impact with his batting and bowling skill. With 185 runs from seven matches, he currently is the fourth-leading run-scorer of the tournament and with nine wickets to his name, he is the fifth-leading wicket-taker. Other than that, he has also proved himself to be a gun fielder. With that, the 50-year-old Habibul Bashar believes, he is someone who brings everything to the table and thus, the franchises will be attracted to have him in the squad.

“He brings everything - he can bat the top of the order, in the middle order and can create impact and he is very handy with his bowling too. Going forward, every franchise would love to have him in the squad,” Bashar added in the same show.
