The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 concluded with Mumbai being crowned as the champions. The Shreyas Iyer-led side defeated Madhya Pradesh in the summit clash of the tournament to lift the silverware. Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur and Maharashtra’s Mukesh Choudhary are tied in third place in the list of the top three wicket-takers from the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. It is worth noting that Shardul was exceptional with the ball throughout the season for Mumbai. In nine matches, Thakur took 15 wickets, with best bowling figures of 4/25.

Thakur’s performance was crucial for Mumbai in their title-winning campaign. Furthermore, Mukesh Choudhary, who represented Maharashtra in the SMAT 2024, is also tied with Thakur in third place. Choudhary played six matches in the recently concluded-tournament and managed to take 15 wickets as well. Despite not getting to win the tournament, the left-arm pacer's performances for Maharashtra definitely stood out.
