Sports psychologist's sessions are really helping us: Harmanpreet Kaur
"There were yoga sessions and psychological sessions. We brought in a sports psychologist (Mughda Bawre)," said Harmanpreet.
India Women are bracing up for the crucial T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to commence on October 3. The Indian team has not won the title until now and the upcoming edition will be the ninth of its kind. India were close to winning the trophy in 2020 but were outdone by the mighty Australians. With eyes firmly set on the trophy this time, the Indian team has hired a sports psychologist in preparation for the global event.
It is not a hidden fact that mega events demand the utmost focus and the game is won mentally first and physically next. The pressure cricketers usually get weighed in with is more mental than anything as approved by several stalwarts. India captain, Harmanpreet Kaur stated that the team has had sessions with the sports psychologist Mughda Bawre, and the results will be there to be seen.

“We have ticked all the boxes in terms of preparation compared to the small things that were not there in the earlier editions. We had a few sessions where we talked to each other, how we are feeling and how we want to go about it. With Mugdha’s help, there were a lot of sessions after which we felt well and then after executing it on the ground, we felt well. She’s really working hard on us, and so far it is really helping us,” Kaur said as quoted by Firstpost.
Apart from reaching the finals in 2020, India have managed to reach the semi-finals four times in 2009, 2010, 2018, and 2023. They are placed in Group A along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. They will take on New Zealand in their first game of the tournament on October 4.
