Afghanistan will kick-start their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against England on October 22, Saturday.
The T20 World Cup 2022 will be played between 16 October to 13 November 2022 in Australia. Afghanistan will make their sixth appearance in the T20 World Cup competition. Participation in domestic T20 league tournaments like the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League has helped their players to mature quickly and grow in stature.
While Afghans understand that they aren't title contenders but the side is very well capable of spoiling the chances of other teams in the competition. Moreover, players likes Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb ur Rahman have been very impactful with their performances over the years.
In the previous year’s edition, Afghanistan could only manage to win two of their five matches in the group stage that eventually saw them get knocked out of the competition. Furthermore, in the Asia Cup 2022 they won both their group stage matches against the likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Despite their terrific group stage performance, the Mohammad Nabi-led side could not get past the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup as they lost all their three games.
