South Africa registered a comprehensive 104-run victory over a helpless Bangladesh side in their ICC  T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 encounter at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27. This mammoth win has come as a morale-booster for the Proteas after they were forced to share points in the previous game against Zimbabwe which had to be abandoned due to rain.

Batting first South Africa posted a mammoth 205/5 in their 20 overs courtesy of a whirlwind century from their seasoned middle order specialist Rilee Rossouw as he batted Bangladesh out of the contest. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with figures of 2/33.

In reply, only Litton Das showed some fightback in what was otherwise a sorry-looking scorecard for Bangladesh. Litton's resilient 34 runs off 31 deliveries ensured that the Asian side at least surpassed the 100-run mark. Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi worked in tandem as they picked up four and three wickets each to dismantle Bangladesh batting completely.

Rilee Rossouw scores first century of T20 World Cup 2022

Rilee Rossouw registered his second T20I century in less than two months and the first one of this T20 World Cup with his blistering knock against Bangladesh. He scored 109 runs off 56 deliveries including seven fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of 194.6.

The southpaw was also involved in a 168-run second-wicket stand along with Quinton de Kock who went on to score a quickfire 38-ball 63.

Anrich Nortje's four-wicket haul helps South Africa register a comprehensive win

Chasing a mammoth 206, Bangladesh ran out of fire and brimstone right from the beginning and it was pacer Anrich Nortje who did the bulk of the damage with the ball in hand. He registered a match-winning four-wicket haul by accounting for the likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan and Taskin Ahmed to finish with figures of 4/10 from his 3.3 overs at an economy of 2.85.
