Fans were entertained by some quality cricket played in the triple-header of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 27 (Thursday). Firstly, South Africa humbled Bangladesh by 104 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. And then while team India comfortably thrashed the Netherlands in the second match, Pakistan had to suffer a disappointing loss at the hands of Zimbabwe in the third game.

For India, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav stroked fifties with the bat and helped India to reach 179 runs in their allotted 20 overs. None of the Dutch bowlers looked effective against the strong Indian batting line-up.

In reply, the batting team could only manage to score 123 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh scalped two wickets each. Speedster Mohammed Shami also got one wicket. In the spin department, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin bagged two wickets each.

Pakistan failed to chase 131 runs against Zimbabwe

In the third match of the day, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to have a bat first. On the back of senior batter Sean Williams's 30+ score, they managed to reach 129 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, the Zimbabwe bowling line-up was all over the Men in Green batters as they took wickets at regular intervals. It all came down to three runs being required of the last three balls with all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz at the crease for Pakistan.

However, Zimbabwe pacer Brad Evans held his nerves at a crucial juncture of the game and gave away only one run in the final three balls, helping his team to clinch a memorable victory over the Asian side. With that, the chances of Pakistan qualifying for the semi-finals have taken a massive blow.
