The final three matches of the Super 12 stage in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 have concluded with the Netherlands, Pakistan, and India winning their respective fixtures. Following the historic win by the Dutch side, it was Pakistan and India who confirmed their spots in the semi-finals of the showpiece event down under.
Speaking about the first match, everything was quite literally in place for the Proteas to qualify for the last four of the tournament. However, the African side squandered the position as they lost to the Netherlands by 13 runs thanks to a sensational display by the Dutch bowlers. The loss automatically made the next fixture, Bangladesh and Pakistan, a virtual knockout clash handing both the sides a chance to qualify.
The Men in Green kept their focus and were sharp against the Bangla Tigers with the ball as the latter put up an underwhelming score of 127 in their stipulated 20 overs. Moreover, Pakistan did not want to squander the chance they obtained like the Proteas, and instead capitalized on it as they comfortably chased the total with 11 balls to spare. The win against the Bangla side ensured their place in the last four spot of the event after much drama throughout the course of their games.
India and Pakistan make it through to semi-finals
After Pakistan confirmed their spot, Rohit Sharma and Co. hit the ground against Zimbabwe at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in their final fixture of the Super 12 stage. While the side had already qualified even prior to the game owing to the Netherlands’ win, the Men in Blue did not take the contest complacently.
A thorough comprehensive win and sheer domination both with the bat and ball was what team India displayed against the Zimbabweans. Team India put up a massive total of 186 in their 20 overs with fine performances coming from KL Rahul (51 runs) and Suryakumar Yadav (61* runs).
In response to the mammoth total, the African nation had to bow down to the dominant bowling unit of the Men in Blue. Rohit Sharma and Co. registered a victory by 71 runs.
