After an exciting edition of the ODI World Cup concluded last month, the cricket fraternity is waiting in anticipation for next year's T20 World Cup that will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA in June.

Cricket, as a sport, has caught steam in the USA after the advent of Major League Cricket earlier this year. The cricket lovers in the USA are in for some fantastic news as reports suggest that India and Pakistan will lock horns in New York in the first group stage of the marquee event. A 34,000-seat stadium is going to be constructed for the World Cup. According to the latest census data, 711,000 people of Indian origin and about 100,000 people of Pakistani origin reside in New York.

Because there is a huge 10-and-a-half-hour time difference between New York and New Delhi, organisers have agreed to start some games, especially the ones involving India, in the morning. This will help the Indian television audience to catch the action at a time of their convenience.

India and Pakistan will be among the 10 countries who will play all their opening group-stage fixtures in the USA. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the local organising bodies are expected to finalise the full schedule on Friday, December 15.

Meanwhile, England and Australia could play all their group games in the Caribbean. According to reports, England could play against the four teams in their group as well as the ones in the Super 8 round (if they qualify) in the British tourist hotspots of Antigua, Barbados, and St Lucia. Meanwhile, Australia could be seen in places like St Vincent, Guyana, and Trinidad.

ICC sent an inspection team to the Caribbean venues over the last fortnight, finishing in Guyana this week. While they have identified room for improvement, no significant problem has caught their attention. The summit clash is expected to be held in Barbados, which hosted the finals of the 2007 ODI World Cup and also the 2010 T20 World Cup.
