The match between South Africa (SA) and the co-hosts, the United States of America (USA), will open the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. On Wednesday, June 19, both teams face each other at Antigua's storied Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound.

After winning four of its eight tour matches and placing first in Group D, South Africa advanced to the Super Eight stage of the competition. However, the USA, who were paired with teams like India and Pakistan in Group A of the competition, came in second.

Quinton de Kock smashed his half-century in just 26 balls making it difficult for USA. In his first over itself, Jasdeep Singh was smashed for 28 runs by de Kock. After winning the toss, USA captain Aaron Jones chose to bowl against the South African squad. "We going to have a bowl first. It's going to be good wicket so we want the seamers to exploit first. Extra spinner for us today, Kenjige in."

SA skipper Aiden Markram said, "Doesn't look too bad. We weren't really sure of what to do for the toss. Probably we were leaning towards bowling but don't mind batting first. Extra spinner today for us. Unfortunately Ottneil Baartman misses out purely on conditions, Keshav comes in."

Aiden Markram, the captain, also made a noteworthy contribution, hitting four boundaries and a six in his 32-ball 46. Markram and De Kock's combination produced 110 runs for the second wicket, helping their team reach 51-1 at the midpoint.
