‘That's crazy for all the talent that he has got’ - AB de Villiers backs Will Jacks to play for RCB in IPL 2024
"That's crazy for all the talent that he has. It seems like the people of Bengaluru and RCBians are excited for this man to perform for RCB," AB de Villiers said.
Former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers has recently come forward and heaped massive praise on England’s Will Jacks after his mammoth century for Pretoria Capitals against Durban Super Giants in the SA20 2024.
Scoring 101 runs in 42 deliveries, Jacks propelled Capitals to a total of 204 runs in the first innings and took two wickets in the second innings to win his side the game as well. Seeing his performance, De Villiers talked of his presence in the IPL (Indian Premier League) side Royal Challengers Bangalore, and despite having so much talent, he has yet to feature for the side in the marquee tournament.
"He (Jacks) has not played a game for RCB. That's crazy for all the talent that he has. It seems like the people of Bengaluru and RCBians are excited for this man to perform for RCB. That's a big question (will Jacks play for RCB). We know he can score big runs. It is a nightmare for the selectors. I hope they (RCB) make a spot for him. He is a complete package and can win games at Chinnaswamy or anywhere else he goes for RCB," AB de Villiers said in a video on his YouTube channel.
RCB ponder Jacks’ position ahead of IPL 2024
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is looming on the horizon, and with the marquee tournament gearing up for yet another season, fans lie in anticipation to see how Will Jacks is accommodated in RCB’s squad ahead of the IPL 2024.
However, Jacks’ place in the squad could prove to be a perplexing situation for Bangalore, as the side possesses some major firepower in the batting department. The likes of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and many more will feature for the side, and it could become really tough to include Jacks in the mix. Nonetheless, the star all-rounder’s quality in recent weeks could stir up a conversation that could see him included in the RCB squad.
