Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Adam Zampa lavished praise on veteran spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal for their ability to adapt to different venues and read the game. Both Ashwin and Chahal are relishing a fine campaign with the ball for the Royals, in the ongoing IPL 2023 season.

Zampa, who is currently plying his trade for the Men in Pink, made an interesting comment while praising his teammates. The Aussie spinner stated that Ashwin and Chahal do not possess the ‘mystery’ but make up for it by working hard at planning.

"They both (Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal) are quality and smart bowlers. They don’t have that mystery you get to see in the IPL, but those guys have worked hard at planning. Ashwin has the ability to adapt to different venues and Chahal reads the batters well and has high skill,” Zampa was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Notably, Chahal is currently in contention for the IPL Purple Cap as he has collected 21 wickets in 13 matches, with his best spell being 4/17. In addition to this, Chahal also shattered the long-standing record of Dwayne Bravo, surpassing him as the highest wicket-taker in the history of the lucrative T20 league with 187 scalps in 144 matches. On the other hand, Ashwin has 14 scalps in 13 appearances for the franchise at a solid average of 7.51.

Rajasthan still in the race for playoffs

Following the massive defeat endured at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sanju Samson and Co. are placed sixth on the IPL Points Table with 12 points in 13 matches and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.140.

Despite their chances of making it to the playoffs taking a dent, courtesy of RCB’s 112-run win, Rajasthan are still in the race for the top four. However, the side will need to beat Punjab Kings in their final group match on Friday, May 19 and rely on the results of other teams in the mix.
