'They're playing aggressively but staying calm' - Nikkhil Chopra, Vijay Dahiya laud Sri Lanka for 'remarkable turnaround'
Vijay Dahiya also felt the same, and said that Sri Lanka has positive dressing room environment
The Sri Lankan men have outdone themselves at the Asia Cup this year. From losing their first game to remaining unbeaten thereon and making it to the finals of the continental event, they came a long way and the credit goes to every player who was a part of the team. The team never looked like they rode on the shoulders of one or two players because they worked as a unit.
The cricket experts, former players, and even Sri Lanka’s competitors have lauded the team for their brilliance in the game. There was a point in the game when they never looked like the favourites to win the tournament, but the tables turned and the perspective changed, thanks to the fighting spirit and their never-to-die attitude shown by them.
While speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker, Nikkhil Chopra and Vijay Dahiya heaped praises on the Sri Lankan team and their run throughout the Asia Cup.
“Sri Lanka have made a remarkable comeback in the Asia cup, they’re playing aggressive brand of cricket like England. After their loss against Afghanistan, it’s like a new look team. Their game was fearless and they expressed themselves out there. On the other hand, Pakistan’s middle order is also getting stronger. This is a very interesting aspect of the tournament,” said Chopra.
Sri Lanka’s calm dressing room environment has been an important factor: Dahiya
Vijay Dahiya asserted on the fact that a team also requires a positive environment in their dressing room whenever they are out for such crucial encounters. He believes that such things can not be changed overnight, and a positive environment constitutes to a team’s good performance.
“Sri Lanka’s calm dressing room environment has been an important factor in their turnaround in Asia Cup. I have noticed this thing, that the captain always mentions about the team’s atmosphere and how good it is, and every player has got the freedom to express himself. That can be seen through their body language as well,” said Dahiya.
