West Indian batting legend Brian Lara has named Rajasthan Royals as the favourites in their upcoming clash against the Gujarat Titans. The former great reckoned that the Royals have all their bases covered and are looking settled as a unit. Sanju Samson and Co. are the only undefeated side in the tournament, having won all four games they have played so far to sit atop the points table.

The Royals commenced their campaign with a convincing 20-run win over Lucknow Super Giants. In their second match, against Delhi Capitals, they once again scripted a successful defence, winning by 12 runs. They clinched their next two games by an identical six-wicket margin, against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, to make it four in four.

"Rajasthan is definitely outstanding and favourites for me. They've got everything covered. They're playing good cricket and remain unbeaten so far in the tournament. I can't see Gujarat Titans doing it tomorrow," Lara told Star Sports.

The Titans, on the other hand, have seen their fortunes fluctuate continuously, with alternative wins and losses in their first four games. They will meet Royals on the back of two successive losses, having suffered a three-wicket defeat to Punjab Kings before a 33-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants. They had started the 2024 campaign on a winning note by defeating Mumbai Indians by six runs but suffered a 63-run loss to Chennai Super Kings before beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets.

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu shared his thoughts on the clash. Suggesting that the law of averages will eventually catch up with the Royals, he chose Titans as the favourites to win in Jaipur.

"Gujarat Titans is a superb side and so far they have managed really well. I don't think anything changes in their squad or in terms of their mentality with these few defeats. I'm sure they'll come back well, and purely based on the law of averages, I think Gujarat Titans are going to beat Rajasthan Royals," he said.
