'This team can't handle the pressure' - Sourav Ganguly blasts Pakistan's batting following loss against India

Former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly stated that the current Pakistan team is not capable of handling pressure, given their performance against India in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. After making a positive start, winning the first two games, Pakistan fell short against arch-rivals India, losing the game by seven wickets.

Ganguly stated that the Pakistan team during his playing career was exceptional. He also said that the current team might find it hard to make a comeback in the ongoing tournament if their batting lineup does not perform up to par. 

"During our time Pakistan was a different team, this is not the type of Pakistan team we used to play. This team can't handle the pressure during batting. It will be hard for Pakistan to come back in this World Cup with this batting," Ganguly was quoted as saying by Times Now.

The former BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president further showered praise on Rohit Sharma and Team India for their remarkable performance against Pakistan. Bowling first, India restricted Pakistan to a below-par 191 runs in 42.5 overs. The Indian batters then successfully chased down the target in 30.3 overs and extended their winning streak 8-0 against Pakistan in the ODI World Cups.

"Rohit played superbly against Pakistan. India's every department is doing well. Batting, bowling and fielding firing together and at the right time," the 51-year-old added.

India versus Pakistan seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event: Arthur

Mickey Arthur, Pakistan team director, stated that the match between India and Pakistan seemed like a BCCI event as they played in a venue which was full of Indian supporters.

"Look, I'd be lying if I said it didn't. It didn't seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn't hear 'Dil Dil Pakistan' coming through the microphones too often tonight." Arthur said after the match. He did, however, admit that it would not be fair to say that the lack of support from the fans was one of the reasons for their loss.

"So yes, that does play a role, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse because for us it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian, the Indian players tonight," he added.
