Australia’s explosive opener David Warner has been arguably the most consistent batter across formats in the modern era having made stellar contributions on the 22 yards in his illustrious 14-year international career. Apart from making an impact for the Aussies, Warner has also proved his mettle in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years.

Meanwhile, the southpaw had made a shocking announcement that he is currently at the twilight of his international career and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 that is scheduled to be played in the USA and the Caribbean could be his swansong.

"This will most likely be the last year of my international career,” said Warner as quoted by Sky Sports.

"I've got my sights set on the 2024 [T20] World Cup as well, so finishing in the Americas, that'd be nice to top it off with a win over there, pending selection,” he added.

Warner is currently 36 of years of age and as of now is going strong in all three formats of the game for Australia. He would be hoping to play an instrumental role in the Aussies’ second T20 World Cup triumph in June next year.

The southpaw was the key performer for the Australians in their first and only T20 World Cup victory in the UAE in the 2021 edition where he scored match-winning half-centuries in the semis and final and succeeded in bagging the Player of the Tournament award having amassed 289 runs from seven innings at a strike rate of 146.7.

While winning the 2023 ODI World Cup would definitely be on his mind, Warner would also be looking forward to adding two more series victories in his resume in their coming year.

The first one would be the four-match away Test series against India in February-March this year. Apart from that, he would also be hoping to play a key role in Australia’s Ashes triumph on English soil in June-July.
