Pakistan cricket is going through a rough patch. The same is evident in the fact that after they reached the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022, the team was ousted from the group stages in the subsequent ICC events. They were recently whitewashed by Bangladesh in the Test series and the team’s white-ball coach, Gary Kirsten has come up with some stern decisions for the betterment of the national team.

The players are currently indulged in the domestic 50-over tournament Champions Cup. Kirsten has camped in Faisalabad to monitor the performance of players. The former South Africa cricketer narrowed down the process to absolute mental strength and teamwork. With Pakistan set to host the Champions Trophy 2025, the host country will be under immense pressure to come good.

"Individuals can win matches, but series and titles are won through teamwork," Kirsten said as quoted by The Express Tribune.

Pakistan set to host ICC event after 27 years

Pakistan will be playing against Australia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and New Zealand in T20Is and ODIs until April 2025. The white-ball games will come nothing short of a great preparation ahead of the impending Champions Trophy 2025. The upcoming tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa in the ODI format is a fitting warm-up if the team is aiming to lift the trophy. Moreover, the prospects of them reaching the World Test Championship final are also bleak.

Speaking of Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan will be hosting an ICC event for the first time since 1996. The country was marred by extremist activities and security issues were the major concerns before hosting any global event. Most recently, with the opportunity at hand, ICC has sent a delegation to look over the preparations and security as the world converges in February 2025.
