Travis Head dethrones Suryakumar Yadav as world number 1 T20I batter
Phil Salt, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan all dropped down a place in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings.
Star Australia opener Travis Head has reached the mountaintop of the ICC Men’s T20I batter rankings, dethroning India’s Suryakumar Yadav for the No. 1 spot. Head has been in exceptional form for quite some time now. After a brilliant season in the IPL, Head saved his best for last in the T20 World Cup 2024.
In his final game of the T20 World Cup, Head played a resilient knock, scoring 76 runs against India in a losing cause. He jumped up four spots in the men’s T20I batter rankings, with Suryakumar Yadav, Phil Salt, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan all dropping down a place.
Furthermore, the West Indies’ Johnson Charles is the latest addition to the top ten men’s T20I batters, as he jumped up four spots. However, it was not a party for the Australians, as Marcus Stoinis’ short stay as the no. 1 all-rounder in world cricket ended after he swooped down to fourth.
Star India allrounder Hardik Pandya moved to third, Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan was in second, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga reclaimed the top spot in the latest rankings. Roston Chase of the West Indies had the biggest jump of all players among the all-rounders, up 17 places to 12th.

Bowler rankings witness minor changes
Furthermore, the men’s T20I bowler rankings witnessed some changes as well. While England’s Adil Rashid maintained his top spot in the rankings, ace spinner Rashid Khan moved up to second place due to his heroics in the T20 World Cup 2024, where he led Afghanistan to the tournament’s semi-finals.

Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood moved up from seventh to fourth spot, whereas the ace Sri Lanka leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga sits in second place. India’s Kuldeep Yadav moved up 20 places and now sits in 11th, while Jasprit Bumrah jumped 44 spots into 24th. Furthermore, Jofra Archer from England made a remarkable return from injury and is up 19 to 38th. As the T20 World Cup 2024 reaches its close, there could be some more changes made in the rankings.
