UP coach getting massage from U18 cricketer to face legal action

In a shocking incident, an Uttar Pradesh cricket coach is due to undergo a probe after it was alleged he got himself a massage from a budding Under-18 cricketer.

The incident came to light after a video of the act got ragingly viral and started doing the rounds on social media. An enquiry was ordered by District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh after a video that surfaced on February 8, 2023 showed cricket coach Abdul Ahad getting a massage from an under-18 cricketer in a hostel.

"The matter is serious and it is necessary to investigate it," DM Jitendra Pratap Singh was quoted as saying on Thursday, February 9, 2023 by NDTV. The DM stated that acts by such people was a direct insult to the sanctity of the relationship between a coach and a cricketer. He stated that if people in such responsible posts indulged in such shallow acts, then it would get impossible to be able to convince players to take up sports as a career.

Jitendra Pratap Singh also stated that such ill-treatment to youngsters would definitely cause a massive mental disturbance, bring down their morale and question their capabilities. The DM further went on to elucidate that the strictest punishment would definitely be given to the guilty party, after a process of thorough probing.

"It is highly condemnable to make children/sportspersons do such a thing. Appropriate action will be taken after getting the inquiry report," the DM concluded.

The DM has asked a report within thee working days. The three-member probe committee has its members in Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sadar, Deputy District Inspector of School, and District Youth Welfare Officer.

An official statement on the aforesaid action to be taken against the coach is still awaited.
