The advancement of technology has become both a boon and bane for society as the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been rampant in recent times. Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is the latest victim of the latest Deepfake Technology as his fake voice is being used to promote a betting app. Recently, a video advertisement of an app claiming high returns on users’ investments has been going viral all over social media featuring Virat Kohli.

To make the ad appear even more credible, the scammers have even added a clip of a famous TV channel journalist making it appear as if the advertisement is being shown during a live news show. The advertisement claims that Kohli managed to earn INR 81,000 in three days by investing just INR 1,000.

India 2-1 up against England in the Test series

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) respected Kohli’s privacy and has allowed him to miss all five Test matches. To add another twist to the tale, Kohli’s good friend and former South African cricketer AB de Villiers revealed on his YouTube channel that the star cricketer is expecting his second child with his wife, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma.

Meanwhile, in Kohli’s absence, India have bounced back in the five-match series after being 0-1 down to be 2-1 up with back-to-back wins in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot. The two teams will next lock horns in the fourth Test from Friday, February 23, at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
