India pacer Mohammed Siraj lauded his former skipper Virat Kohli for his sheer hard work and incredible fitness routine. Notably, the 34-year-old has scored 420 runs in 11 matches in the ongoing season of IPL 2023 and is currently sixth in the race for IPL Orange Cap.
Talking about Kohli’s fitness, Siraj revealed that it does not matter how many runs he scores on a particular day, he goes to sleep by 11 pm and follows the same routine every day. Siraj previously mentioned that Kohli has helped him a lot in the gym and the pacer also gives a lot of credit for his success to Kohli. Admiring his fitness routine, Siraj also mentioned that the ‘King’, as Kohli is popularly known, has taken the fitness standards to the next level.
“Virat Bhaiya maximum by 11 pm is off to bed. Whether he scores a hundred or zero, he will follow a set routine and will meet you at breakfast and then in the gym. The fitness standards he has set have been just next level. He is not getting relaxed even after achieving so much. He is still hungry and wants to get better. Hats off,” Siraj said on the latest show of Breakfast with Champions.
If my father would have been alive, he would have been proud that his son has fulfilled his dream: Siraj
Mohammed Siraj’s father passed away ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, but the cricketer could not travel back home because of COVID-19 protocols. Following that, the Hyderabad-born cricketer made his Test debut for India, fulfilling his father’s dream. Speaking about everything that went through, the 29-year-old stated that his father would have been very proud to see Siraj make his Test debut and also revealed the reason behind his tears during the national anthem.
“(On crying during the national anthem) My Test debut was so good, and my late father always used to tell me 'Son, play Test cricket. That's where the real respect is.' If he would have been alive, he would have been proud that his son has fulfilled his dream. His blessings are always there with me,” Siraj mentioned.
