Sir Vivian Richards, the West Indies cricket legend, applauded Virat Kohli’s determination, spirit, fiery approach, and passion, making him among the game's "legendary" and "great"  players. A long-time admirer of Kohli’s boldness and courage, Richards praised the Indian batter for turning negative criticisms to positive ones with solely his performance on-field.

Richards headlined Kohli’s flexibility, stating, "Not all players can bounce back when they’re down. His fighting spirit, energy, and passion to succeed make him stand out."

Richards, known for his aggressive style of playing, said Virat Kohli reminds him of himself. "There have been many great batters. Before, you had someone like Sachin Tendulkar, but in the modern era, it's Virat Kohli. He reminds me of myself. He who dares, wins. He believes in himself, is 120% confident, and when aggression is needed, he steps up. I love that", he added.

Richards also appreciated Kohli’s ferocious energy. "His energy reflects his passion. Every moment on the field, he's involved. There’s not a second he switches off, he’s just magnificent that way."

"Given his fitness and hunger, you never know, he could still be playing at 50," he said. "He recently scored a hundred against Pakistan in Dubai, proving he’s still at his best", Richards expressed on Kohli's longevity and conveyed confidence in his future.

Nevertheless, Richards denied the comparison between Kohli and Tendulkar. "I don’t believe in comparisons. Each player had their time, and we should appreciate them for what they contributed."

Supporting Rohit Sharma regardless of his inconsistent form, Richards added, "He’s a magnificent player. Players go through tough times, but let’s see how he performs in the semifinals and finals."
