Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's ICC Test ranking takes hit as Test slump continues
Rohit finds himself in the 40th spot with 560 ratings after having a forgettable Australia tour.
Star India batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are going through a lean patch with the bat in Tests. Ever since the conclusion of T20 World Cup 2024 in June, the fans have not seen their usual version of batting in the cricket field. Speaking of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli has scored only one century, that came in the first Test and has failed to register a fifty plus score thereafter.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma continued his poor form with the bat and scored just 30 odd runs in five innings. Due to their rough patch, their ICC Test ranking has taken a hit severely. While Kohli has slipped to 24th rank with 633 ratings, Rohit finds himself in the 40th spot with 560 ratings after having a forgettable Australia tour.

Speaking of Kohli’s performance in the last 10 Tests, he has scored 417 runs across 19 innings at an average of 24.52. Rohit has scored just 31 runs from three matches of the ongoing series against Australia. Kohli was expected to come good in Melbourne Test but the right-handed batters registered scores of 36 and five runs in both innings. Another batter who was struggling to get back to form, Steve Smith, is currently on the seventh spot with 763 ratings after back to back centuries in Brisbane and Melbourne.
However, there is some good news for the Indian team as their swashbuckling opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal has climbed one spot to reach the fourth position in the ICC Test rankings for batters. Yashasvi continued his good touch with the bat to score two 80 plus score in both innings of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. Veteran England batter, Joe Root has maintained his first spot 895 ratings.
