[WATCH] IPL 2025: Mukesh Choudhary cleans up Prabhsimran Singh for a duck

In Match 22 of the 2025 IPL between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Mullanpur, left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary made an impressive comeback by picking up his first wicket of the season in his very first over. Both teams remained unchanged and were aiming to bounce back after the defeats in their previous games.

PBKS got off to a flying start with opener Priyansh Arya smashing two sixes in the opening over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed. However, Mukesh Choudhary struck early in the second over, bringing CSK back into the contest. On the second ball of his spell, Choudhary bowled a delivery with extra width, which the right-handed batter Prabhsimran Singh attempted to play. Unfortunately for him, the ball took an inside edge and crashed onto the stumps, giving Mukesh his first wicket of the 2025 IPL.

This wicket was a crucial moment for the left-arm pacer, who had a forgettable outing in the previous match against Delhi Capitals (DC). In that game, he gave away 50 runs in his four-over spell without taking a wicket, making one of the most expensive spells in IPL history.

PBKS continued their aggressive approach with left-hander Priyansh Arya playing a sensational knock. He scored a blazing 106 off just 42 deliveries, including nine sixes, dismantling the CSK bowling attack. Despite Arya’s fireworks, CSK managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets, giving away 47 runs. Khaleel Ahmed also chipped in with two wickets.

By the end of the 16th over, PBKS stood at 164 for 6, with Marco Jansen and Shashank Singh at the crease.
