Jitesh Sharma played an audacious innnings in the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium. Jitesh's breathtaking hitting was something which could not be put into words by the commentators as Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar wondered what they could name one was of the shots he played towards the end of RCB's innings.

On the first ball of the 19th over, Trent Boult attempted a yorker against the RCB wicketkeeper-batter. However, the length was not perfect and it turned out to be a fuller length delivery on the off stump. Jitesh read the line and length early, stepped across, and made contact with the ball while going down on his knees as he guided it over fine leg.

The batter employed enough power to get it over the fence for a six despite getting quite far across. The commentators were highly impressed by the shot.

"Is it a scoop or a pull?" asked Gavaskar to his fellow commentator Shastri. In reply, the latter felt it was also a sweep. "It's also a sweep," Shastri added. "It was one of the 25 sixes hit in the match which lit the arena."

Jitesh Sharma's underrated performance in IPL 2025

Jitesh has shone well as a wicketkeeper-batter in the ongoing seaso. In the inaugural match of the season against KKR, he grabbed four catches and did not get a chance to bat. Against CSK, he played a fine cameo of 12 off just six and also took a catch.

Against GT, the only game RCB has lost so far, Jitesh scored 33 off 21 and saved his side from a collapse. Additionally, he took the catch of Sai Sudharsan. He played brilliantly against MI and scored an unbeaten 40*(19). Apart from that, Jitesh also helped RCB skipper Patidar in taking a brilliant DRS call to get rid of Ryan Rickleton.
