An old video of Ricky Ponting's shoulder barging Harbhajan Singh in 1998 resurfaces the internet. The Australian legend was criticized for questioning Kohli for the same action.
There is always some on-field drama when Australia and India are competing in a Test series which gives a glimpse of the rivalry among the two nations in International cricket. There was recently some drama in the Boxing Day Test as well between Indian legend Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas.
There was a period in the match where the two-time World champion had bumped his shoulder with the debutant during the match. There have been many experts and pundits who were against Kohli and thought he intentionally shouldered the 19-year-old opener during the match.
Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting, who was on air for live commentary, brutally criticized Kohli for instigating the incident with the debutant Konstas. The three-time World Cup winner said that the Delhi-born intentionally barged his shoulder into Konstas during the altercation, and also suggested that the fielders should be nowhere near the batter during the match.
Shortly after Ponting's comments, a video of him engaging in an on-field spat with Harbhajan Singh during the Coca-Cola Cup in 1998 resurfaced. In the clip, Ponting was seen forcing himself onto the former Indian spinner after the latter got the better of him, and also shared a few heated words before making his way back to the pavilion. This got netizens talking about Ponting's hypocrisy to comment on something which he himself committed while being an active international.

Speaking more of the historic match, it featured one of the best encounters between India and Australia, where Sachin Tendulkar scored a brilliant 143 from just 131 deliveries to give India a fighting chance. The match resulted in Australia’s favour, however, Tendulkar's brilliance at Sharjah to keep the Men in Blue in the contest until the last moment continues to be revered as one of the finest knocks in ODI format.
After losing the game, the team finally got their revenge in the final and won the tri-series under the leadership of Mohammad Azharuddin.
