The Guyana Amazon Warriors have made significant additions to their roster for the upcoming 2024 Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), securing the services of international stars Chloe Tryon and Erin Burns.

The WCPL, entering its third season, has quickly established itself as a premier T20 cricket tournament in the Caribbean.

Scheduled from August 21 to 29 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, the 2024 edition promises to be fiercely competitive with Guyana Amazon Warriors, Trinbago Knight Riders, and Barbados Royals vying for the championship.

South African all-rounder brings a wealth of experience to the Amazon Warriors. With 98 T20 internationals under her belt, Tryon's hard-hitting middle-order batting and left-arm orthodox spin make her a valuable asset. Her international record of 1,136 runs and 35 wickets underscores her all-round capabilities.

Stafanie Taylor back to lead Warriors

Joining Tryon is Australian all-rounder Burns, fresh off a championship win with the Barbados Royals in the previous WCPL season. Burns' extensive T20 experience, including 117 matches in the Women's Big Bash League, will add depth to the Warriors' lineup. Her career consists of 2,429 runs and 80 wickets across 162 T20s highlighting her consistency and match-winning potential.

The franchise has also retained key players from their 2023 campaign. Captain, Stafanie Taylor, led the team to the finals last year. Alongside Taylor, the retention of Shabnim Ismail, Karishma Ramharack, Shemaine Campbelle, Natasha McClean, and Shakera Selman ensures a strong core of experienced players.

With seven slots still to be filled, the team will look to the upcoming WCPL draft in July to complete their 15-member squad. Six local players will be selected from the draft, with one overseas spot remaining to be confirmed before the season starts.
