We are ready to give our lives for Babar Azam: Shan Masood
Babar Azam's side Peshawar Zalmi have won three and lost three in the ongoing PSL.
Amidst a lot of criticism from former players regarding his captaincy, Babar Azam has found support from his national teammate, Shan Masood. The 33-year-old has lauded Azam for being an exceptional leader and stated that he needs the support of his team to put up a good show.
Notably, many former players including Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Akhtar and Dinesh Kaneria have criticised Babar for his captaincy. After Pakistan failed to win the finals of the Asia Cup 2022 and the T20 World Cup 2022, the criticism accelerated but as per Masood, the team is not bothered by all this.
“We were ready to give our lives when Sarfaraz Ahmed was our captain, and now we are ready to give our lives for Babar Azam. He is an exceptional captain and he needs the team’s support. As a team, our goal is to play for the country and to perform our best to achieve this,” said the 33-year-old as quoted by The Indian Express.
“We watch a lot of news on criticism of the team but we don’t get bothered by them as our mutual goal is to play for our country,” Masood added.
Now, Babar is currently captaining the Peshawar Zalmi side in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) and in the last week, he refuted all the criticisms and stated that it will come as everyone will not speak in his favour.
“Criticism will continue because it is not possible that everyone will speak in your favour. I always try to stay positive since it improves my level of confidence,” Azam had said last week.
Shan Masood showers praise on Shaheen Afridi
Masood heaped praise on speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi after his brilliant performance in the ongoing PSL. The 22-year-old has scalped 10 wickets from seven matches so far in the competition and has also become the most successful captain (70% win percentage) in PSL history. Now, talking about the pacer, Masood stated that it's very difficult to play him and he currently is the number one bowler in the world.
“If you are surviving Shaheen’s first over and also hitting a six, it means that you are playing very well as he is the number one bowler in the world right now,” said the top-order batter.
