'We hold an edge' - Babar Azam's bold claim ahead of Asia Cup clash against India
"We have played Tests, we played a series against Afghanistan, and then the LPL… So it can be said that we have an advantage," Babar Azam said.
Match 3 of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023 will feature a clash between India and Pakistan at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, in Colombo, on Sunday, September 10. The clash is undoubtedly going to be one of the most anticipated games of the tournament. Hence all the fans and experts alike are expecting a fiercely competitive game. Therefore, it would be interesting to see which side comes out on top in the mother of all rivalry in cricket.
Notably, India and Pakistan faced each other in the third game of the tournament. However, rain played spoilsport throughout several stages of the game, and the game was eventually washed out and abandoned with both sides sharing a point each. With their Super Four clash around the corner, fans would like a day that is not cursed by the rain.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 clash, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam took centre stage and opined that due to the volume of games that Pakistan have played in recent weeks in the Lankan territory and Pakistan, the side will definitely hold an edge over the Indian team in understanding the playing conditions better.
"Given the continuous cricket we are playing both in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, you can say that we hold an edge (over India), we have been playing here in Sri Lanka for the past two months or so. We have played Tests, we played a series against Afghanistan, and then the LPL… So it can be said that we have an advantage," Babar Azam said in the pre-match press conference.
We always knew the schedule, we have planned everything well: Babar

"We always knew the schedule and how much we have to travel. So, it’s become important how we look after our players. We have planned everything well," Babar Azam said.
With both sides gearing up to face each other, the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan could once again prove to be a cracker of a contest to leave the fans on the edge of their seats.
