We were playing with 10 fielders, were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw: MCA official
"We were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it," said the MCA Official
India’s ace batter Prithvi Shaw has probably been in the driest phases of his cricket of late, as he got excluded from Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad. His poor run of form, and persistent struggles with fitness, have been an area of concern for the youngster.
There was a time when Shaw was considered one of the next big things in the cricketing arena. However, the current situation of the 25-year-old has not been great after getting unsold in the auction and more recently, getting dropped from the Mumbai side. Multiple reports have highlighted his fitness issues and indisciplined nature towards the game and the senior players in the team. The recent statements of an MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) official about the U19 World Cup-winning skipper have also come to light.
“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it,” a top MCA official said, as quoted by NDTV.
"Even while batting, we could see he was troubled reaching to the ball. His fitness, discipline, and attitude are poor, and it is pretty simple, there cannot be different rules for different players, Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now," the official added.

Speaking of Shaw's Vijay Hazare snub, the Mumbai batter, who won't be seen in the premier 50-over domestic competition, has some stupendous records in List A format. The batter has scored 3399 runs in the 65 matches he has played with a phenomenal average of 55.72. However, his last VHT campaign back in 2022 was underwhelming where he managed only 217 runs from his 7 games and averaged only 31, which included a couple of half centuries.
